Hello, I am a 18 year old boy that for my whole life have always had short hair. Now that I have left home and I'm in college away from my parents, I want to grow my hair out. I think men look beautiful with long hair, just like women, and for all of human history, men have always had long hair, with the exception of these last 300 years when haircuts became fashionable. I have always wanted to grow my hair out though, just like the men of the past. What can I do to insure I grow beautiful long hair like women have, and how long will I have to wait to have the same hair length women have?

i think growing it out is a great idea and hair grows about a half inch to an inch a month if you are eating healthy and taking your vitamins.. you see hair feeds on blood so what you eat is very important also try hanging your head off the side of your bed and massaging your scalp every night and also a good brushing if your scalp and hair daily helps too..

The best thing you can do is wash it regularly. make sure to keep it well. use gels a lot to keep from scalp dryness. You will be fine. It can take anywhere from 2 to 3 years to get to a good length.

Wow I'm so happy you love hair because I have pretty long blonde hair. I'm white 6'0 and I actually dye it its really light brown, or rather highlight it, but it's beautiful. It looks Brad Pitt ish, and everyone thinks I'm from LA.

WHen I had short hair, and didn't style or dye it, I was just another joe.

It's amazing what longer hair that's styled properly can do for a person's image.

It will take quite some time to grow out, but women do alot more than grow their hair to keep it beautiful.

They get it cut and styled just right, buy the right shampoos and use the right hair products.

You're going to have to use shining sprays and other serums to ensure its resiliance and there are different products , etc.

You can honestly develop an awesome look.

I don't know why longer hair ever went out of style, I think it can be very beautiful.

um youll have to wait 2 or 3 years.

but dont it looks stupid on men and male hair quailty isnt good like women and it will never look as good....stick to short hair if u want to find someone.

If you get the right shampoo... you will have the soft shiny beautiful hair that you want. It really depends on how fast your hair grows, to answer the other part of your Q, if you always are needing to get your hair cut, then you prolly wont have a very hard time getting it to the length you want. If you go and buy shampoo from the beauty salon, the best would be matrix products, but ask the hair stylists for information as to whichones to use for the situation that your in. Not all men in the past had long hair. Even the Bible talks of men having short hair. Do you suppose people have always wore their hair the way they want to?

Humanity doesn't change much. If you want long hair then grow it out. However, when you get out of college and start looking for a job you may want to get it cut again. But I guess that depends on what you are studying and whether those employers care if you have long hair or not.
