Any pubic hair (underarms too) has a purpose to waft smell. A carryover from when we are hairy all over, and had to signal when we were most fertile

we came from apes with a full body hair. over the years we have gotten less hair. a few more years and it might be gone dont worry about it...... lol!! besides as you age you lose hair everywhere. of course you "could" just shave it and if you have a problem super glue it back.... lol

Catches sweat, provides cushioning during intercourse, blocks germs from entering. Numerous reasons, but basically its like nose hairs. Its to protect the body in some way. Obviously, it is not needed. (perhaps to an extent) if it were crucial to have it that would mean any woman who has waxed or shaved has somehow detrimentally damaged their 'part'.

It is also a symbol of becoming a women. Metaphorically women who shave are trying to recreate a childlike sense of themselves and men who find shaved women appealing supposedly have a deep psychological issue. I do not beleive this but it is an argument that is out there.
